Compost all Levelled
Hello Everyone,
As you can see from the pic above, the mountains of PAS100 have been levelled. No mean task! Our lovely friend Stu, who helps us when we need to move pigs and many other major jobs, took this task on. He was brilliant! Over three days, with the tractor pulling a leveller with weights, Stu drove round and round, until the mountains got smaller and smaller. The mountains just disappeared and a lovely planting area was established in both the Green Field and the Pond Field.
The Strawberries, which we removed from the strawberry patch, are now being planted into a new area. They are going into an area with the PAS100 in the Green Field. So far, two full lines have gone in…..the rabbits are enjoying the strawberry leaves! Damn!!
The seeds sown in January and February are now, more or less, ready to be planted. They will be going into the newly levelled area in the Pond Field. The vegetables to be planted will be kales, cabbages, broccoli, Calabrese, Romanesque, Pak Choi, Celery, Fennel, Leaves, Cauliflower. Potatoes, Globe Artichoke, and sowings of Carrots, Parsnips, Beetroot, Leeks and Spring Onions – to name just a few!
The polytunnels are all starting to look lush. The Chard, Beans, Peas, Onions, Beetroot, Cabbages, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Leaves, Fennel, Spinach, Sallots and seeds of Turnip, Carrots, Spring Onions and Kohl Rabi are all starting to be colourful and leafy.
The herb garden also realises it is spring. Last years dropped seeds from the herbs are now showing. New seeds have also been added to some empty areas, for instance camomile and burnet. (This is my favourite place in our market garden, not just the look but also the smell-delicious).
