In the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries, Savory was used to help those with breathing difficulties, easing shortness of breath. It was also believed to bring about menstruation and to cause abortion. Savory was also commonly used in cooking in this period; the herb was often added as a seasoning for dishes of meats and fish.
